The Smart Cities India expo, themed as "Imagining an AI-Driven Future Today: Innovating for a Better Tomorrow," recently took place, showcasing India's modernization and development landscape. The event, which is India's largest technology showcase, featured thousands of visitors and delegates exploring technologies and innovations, as well as approximately 40 conference sessions facilitating discussions on the latest developments and market trends impacting new-age technologies.

The expo, inaugurated by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon'ble Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, also featured the Smart City Pavilion, showcasing smart city projects that enhance millions of citizens' lives. In this pavilion, various projects were on display, aiming to improve urban living, promote sustainability, and foster innovation.

Among the highlights of the event was the FinTech India Innovation Awards, where Russia-based Alfa Bank won awards in two categories: Global Leader in Fintech and Best Global Use of AI in FinTech. Alexey Kashirin, Head of the Advanced Analytics Department at Alfa Bank, expressed gratitude for the recognition.

In addition to the FinTech awards, an Investors Pitch competition was held in the Startup arena, featuring 10 startups showcasing innovative ideas. One of the standout winners was Fuselage Innovation, an agri-tech startup from Kerala, which won the Prem Behl's Excellence Award and other benefits at the competition. During a conference session focused on Artificial Intelligence, Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary & CEO India AI Mission, observed that they are building AI-based applications in key sectors. Ms. Chandrika Behl, Managing Director of Exhibitions India Group, stated that the expo promotes an inclusive and sustainable ecosystem across the country. The event also featured insights from successful entrepreneurs, such as Aman Gupta, Co-founder & CMO of boAt. Aman Gupta emphasized that Indian brands should aim to be aspirational rather than just affordable.

The Smart Cities awards had categories such as Best Use of AI for Urban Development, Best Smart Energy Solution, Digital Inclusion and Citizen Engagement, Innovation in Urban Mobility, etc. The expo, therefore, served as a platform for showcasing India's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the integration of transformative technologies in its urban development efforts.
