Greenlane initiates the pilot for a second route of electric long-haul vehicles
Electric Trucking Revolution Gains Momentum with New Corridor
A groundbreaking development in the electric trucking industry is underway, as Greenlane's Colton hub in California prepares to link up with new sites in Blythe, California, and Greater Phoenix, Arizona, via the I-10 corridor. This expansion is made possible through a strategic partnership with electric truck maker Windrose Technology [1][2][3][4][5].
Windrose Technology, a pioneer in the field, is set to produce 2,000 electric trucks globally in 2026, with plans to ramp up production to 10,000 in 20227 [1]. Their U.S. operational base will be at the Colton center, where their R700 Class 8 electric semi truck has already demonstrated practical long-haul capability [3].
In a recent statement, Windrose founder and CEO Wen Han emphasised the reality of electric long-haul trucking, stating, "Electric long-haul trucking isn't just theory - it's proven real-world performance." This sentiment is echoed by the electric trucking carrier Nevoya, who will be among the first customers to use the new corridor, operating battery-electric trucks along both I-10 and I-15 [2].
The Colton site, designed to cater to the needs of long-haul drivers, offers restrooms, Wi-Fi, 24/7 security, carports, office space, and parking [6]. It also boasts 12 pull-through bays for semis and 29 bobtail lanes [7]. Greenlane's Colton flagship site, which opened in April, already houses over 40 high-speed chargers [8].
Greenlane's plan is to create a nationwide public charging network for medium- and heavy-duty fleets [9]. The company's expansion along Interstate 10 is a significant step towards this goal, connecting Southern California to Phoenix and paving the way for a more sustainable future in freight transportation.
