Google's Wear OS-compatible Google Calendar now incorporates M3 Expressive, Contacts, and Keep Tiles features.

Google has announced a series of updates to its apps on Wear OS, with a focus on enhancing the visual design and usability of Google Calendar and its companion apps.

The most notable change is the refreshed look of Google Calendar's "Next event" and "Next tasks" Tiles. The "Next event" Tile now features a rounded container displaying event names and durations alongside themed graphics. The date is prominently shown above the event details as "Today." The "Calendar" button has been redesigned with a curved shape that aligns better with the tile's lower contour for a smoother look.

The "Next tasks" Tile, on the other hand, highlights an italicized and curved "More" button, improving visual consistency with the overall Material 3 Expressive theme.

In addition to these changes, Google Contacts is also getting a makeover. The "Favorites" Tile is switching from circles to pills, and the individual "Contact" widget is moving from a circular avatar design to a larger avatar with call and message shortcuts placed on the right side. The "Contacts" button on the Google Contacts "Favorites" Tile now says "See all" on the Pixel Watch companion.

Google Keep is also receiving an update, with the "Create note" Tile changing from a list format to dynamic oval (Notes) and rounded rectangle (Lists) shapes. The "Single note" Tile in Google Keep on Wear OS places the text in a container.

These updates are part of the Wear OS 2025.30.x update for Google Calendar and are gradually rolling out since early August 2025 on Wear OS. It's unclear whether the max number of contacts goes from six to four on the Google Contacts "Favorites" Tile redesign since it isn't live yet.

The Google Keep app on Wear OS does not appear to have any changes mentioned in this article other than the "Create note" and "Single note" Tiles.

These updates are part of Google's broader Material 3 Expressive design rollout, aiming for a more cohesive, modern visual identity across Android and Wear OS apps, improving both phone/tablet and smartwatch user experience. The core Google Calendar app’s interface and functionality remain mostly unchanged beyond these tile designs.

Technology plays a crucial role in these updates, as Google leverages it to enhance the visual design and usability of Google Calendar and its companion apps on Wear OS. The updates aim to provide a more cohesive, modern visual identity, ultimately improving the user experience through technology.
