Germany's Electra slashes fast-charging fees to an affordable €0.49 per kilowatt-hour
Electra, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, is set to revolutionise fast charging across Europe with a series of price reductions and infrastructure expansions. The company, which aims to set new standards for fast charging in Germany, has announced that from July 1, 2025, the price for DC fast-charging via the Electra app will be reduced to 0.49 Euro per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in Germany. This move is part of Electra's long-term growth strategy, focusing on the rapid expansion of fast-charging infrastructure, particularly in Germany.
In a bid to financially relieve travelers, Electra has also reduced the price for app-based charging in Italy to 0.39 Euro/kWh for July and August 2025, a reduction of around 50% from the current standard rate. This price drop represents a nearly 20% reduction from the current rate. Beyond Germany, Electra has already established a denser fast-charging network in the DACH region - Austria and Switzerland - and in Italy. Starting July 2025, standardized prices will be set at €0.49/kWh in Austria and CHF 0.49/kWh in Switzerland.
Electra's strategy clearly positions Germany as a key market for the transportation transition, emphasising the importance of affordability and accessibility in their fast-charging network to encourage EV adoption. The company is "massively" investing in expanding its charging infrastructure in Germany, with hundreds of new charging parks planned in the coming years. This expansion aims to make fast, reliable, and affordable charging a reality, addressing one of the main barriers to EV adoption - the high cost of energy for charging.
The company's mission is to make electromobility accessible, simple, and affordable for everyone without compromising on comfort or reliability. To support this, Electra has recently opened charging parks in Grafelfing near Munich and Dortmund, and has more charging parks planned nationwide. Strategically located charging stations with capacities of up to 400 kW enable stress-free, everyday travel during peak holiday seasons. Electra's fast-charging hubs are located at shopping centres, hotels, or traffic hubs.
Paul Tonini, Country Manager of Electra Germany, states that fast, reliable, and affordable charging can also be a reality in Germany. "We are committed to making electromobility accessible to everyone, and our price reductions are a significant step towards that goal," he said.
Electra's long-term growth plan centres on aggressive infrastructure expansion in Germany, supported by price reductions to accelerate user adoption. Simultaneously, the company is consolidating and enhancing its presence in nearby European markets including Italy, Austria, and Switzerland with regionally tailored pricing offers.
Additionally, Electra continues to innovate and collaborate on advanced charging solutions, such as wireless charging projects in other markets like Israel, signalling a broader technological and operational growth vision. However, these projects are less directly connected to the European rollout plans.
With these developments, Electra is poised to create one of the densest fast-charging networks on the continent, making electromobility more accessible than ever before.
