German Copters DLS Revolutionizes Saxony's Sample Transport with Drone Deliveries

German Copters DLS GmbH is revolutionising transport in Saxony. The Dresden-based company has successfully tested drone deliveries, reducing transport times by up to 60 percent compared to road transport. Plans are underway to expand this service across the entire Free State.

The drone, capable of flying up to 120 kilometers per hour and remaining airborne for approximately two hours, has proven its worth on a test route between Osterzgebirge and Dresden. This route, free from traffic obstacles, ensures safe and swift delivery, a priority especially during the pandemic. The drone, equipped with three SIM cards for constant reception, is monitored by experienced pilot Matea Zivkovic based in Croatia.

Currently, the drone transports around 50 blood samples daily from the Osterzgebirge region to Dresden. Jürgen Nüdling, project leader at German Copters DLS GmbH, oversees these flights. This innovative project is an example of Dresden's thriving innovation hub and paves the way for larger-scale drone transport initiatives.

German Copters DLS GmbH's transport service, faster and more reliable than road transport, is set to expand across Saxony. This advancement, driven by the Dresden company, is a testament to the region's commitment to innovation and efficiency in healthcare logistics.
