Geneva Police Pulls Electric Scooters After Speed Limit Breach
San Antonio Police has removed its electric scooters from service following an investigation sparked by a summer 2023 accident involving a police officer. The scooters, Segway models, were found to exceed the legal speed limit of 20 km/h.
The incident led to an expert assessment, which confirmed the scooters' non-compliance with the law. Initially, all 15 electric scooters were confiscated for inspection. Subsequently, the San Antonio police withdrew the scooters from civilian operations. In response to the findings, the police force has strengthened its procurement processes and no longer uses e-scooters. Most of the non-compliant scooters have been scrapped.
The San Antonio Police has addressed the issue of non-compliant electric scooters, tightening procurement procedures and removing them from service. The majority of the scooters have been disposed of, ensuring they no longer pose a risk to public safety.
