GameStop Defies Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass Price Hike, Keeps Price at $20
GameStop has publicly criticized Microsoft's recent Xbox Game Pass price increase, promising to keep the monthly fee at $20 for its customers. Meanwhile, Microsoft has begun promoting the service on console startups just one day after the price hike.
Microsoft has raised the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to $29.99 per month in the USA, a 50% increase. GameStop, however, has held firm against this change, continuing to offer the subscription at the original $19.99 price point, both in-store and online. The retailer's move is a direct response to Microsoft's price hike.
The price increase also affects Xbox Game Pass PC, which has seen a jump from $11.99 to $16.49 monthly. Despite this, GameStop has not announced any changes to its PC game pass pricing.
GameStop's decision to keep Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at $20 per month challenges Microsoft's recent pricing strategy. Customers can now choose between paying the increased price directly through Microsoft or sticking with GameStop's lower rate.
