Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club Enhances Aesthetics and Auditory Experience Through L-Acoustics

In the heart of Miami, The Surf Club, a historic establishment between Miami Beach and Bal Harbour, has undergone a remarkable transformation. Following a comprehensive renovation in 2017, the iconic venue, originally built by tire tycoon Harvey Firestone in 1930, now boasts a luxury condo-hotel operated by Four Seasons, restaurants, a private club, four pools, a gym, and beautiful gardens.

Recently, The Champagne Bar within The Surf Club received a complete audio upgrade in late 2024, transforming the venue into a sonic haven for music enthusiasts. The upgrade, led by boutique music consultancy BELLOSOUND, aimed to elevate the music experience at the Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club, with Daniel Buckman, President of BELLOSOUND, brought in by Hotel Manager Richard Lanaud to achieve this goal.

The choice of audio equipment was meticulously considered, with L-Acoustics being selected for their Art Deco-compatible style and sonic substance. The X4i loudspeakers, with their rich wood finish, fit perfectly with the lounge decor of The Champagne Bar, while the white-finished Syva loudspeakers blend seamlessly in their location.

To ensure optimal sound quality, Soundvision software was used to accurately model The Champagne Bar's space and predict the angles for the Tilt 40 fixed bracket, enabling a minimalist installation. Eight SB10i subwoofers were strategically placed within the custom banquette planters, providing a full, warm low-end presence without any visible impact.

The L-Acoustics amplified controllers integrated seamlessly with the Q-SYS distributed audio system in The Champagne Bar, ensuring a cohesive and immersive audio experience. A single Syva + Syva Low system was placed adjacent to the DJ booth, delivering exceptional sound quality that meets the high expectations for sound at the Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club.

The music choices for the venue and the system at The Surf Club are important, with Buckman describing both the space and the sound as "sophisticated and chic, celebrating the history and legacy of the venue." Corry McGibbon, President of The 192 Group, was brought in by Daniel Buckman to lead the technical design and implementation of the Champagne Bar's audio upgrade.

The ultimate compliment for the Champagne Bar's audio upgrade may have come from the entertainers who perform in the restaurant and bar. They have commented on how good the room sounds, praising the clarity and diminutive size of the ultra-compact X4i loudspeakers.
