Ford Boosts Fiesta & Focus Security with Motion-Sensing Key Fobs

Ford is bolstering security in its Fiesta and Focus models with new motion-sensing key fobs. The technology, which switches off the signal after 40 seconds of inactivity, makes it harder for thieves to intercept the signal using relay grabbers. Existing owners can retrofit their vehicles for £65 (£72 for the Focus) plus labor.

The new key fobs require physical contact to activate, adding an extra layer of security. They must be within two meters of the car to work. Ford plans to extend this technology across its entire range within the next two years. Currently, no other major automakers have been identified to follow Ford's lead in implementing motion sensor technology in their vehicle keys to prevent car theft.

Ford's motion-sensing key fobs are a proactive measure against car theft. By switching off the signal after inactivity and requiring physical contact to activate, they significantly enhance security. The rollout across Ford's entire range in the next two years will further strengthen this commitment.
