Interconnection services broaden with AMS-IX providing links to Netnod IX in Stockholm and MIX extending to an additional location.

Expansion of Cross-IX as AMS-IX extends outbound services to Netnod IX in Stockholm and establishes connection with MIX in the associated city.

The European interconnection landscape is set to undergo a significant transformation, as Netnod, AMS-IX, and MIX announce the second phase of their Cross-IX service. This service, which allows networks to perform peering among major European hubs using a single connection, is now available, connecting AMS-IX Amsterdam with both Netnod IX in Stockholm and MIX in an unspecified city.

Karin Ahl, CEO of Netnod, expressed her excitement about the simplified interconnections this new phase of Cross-IX offers between networks in Europe. Alessandro Talotta, Executive President and Chairman of MIX, echoed her sentiments, noting the contribution of MIX's new data center DC3 at the Caldera campus to this process.

The agreement between AMS-IX and MIX is beneficial for their respective customers, Talotta commented, as it allows AMS-IX members and customers in Amsterdam to extend their coverage to the Nordic countries or Italy by connecting directly to Netnod IX or MIX and exchanging traffic with hundreds of networks.

Direct connections from AMS-IX to Netnod IX Stockholm are now possible, making it easier for networks to reach the Nordic peering hub, according to Netnod. All connections can be managed through a single contract and can be activated on an existing (or new) port.

Peter van Burgel, CEO of AMS-IX, is thrilled about the comprehensive solution offered in partnership with MIX and Netnod, and the launch of the second phase of Cross-IX service is said to enhance connectivity in Europe.

However, specific details about planned additional connectivity hubs for Cross-IX service linking AMS-IX Amsterdam, Netnod IX, and MIX could not be found in the available data. For the latest official updates on Cross-IX connectivity expansions among these three IXPs, it is recommended to consult the official websites or announcements from these IXPs directly, as well as any industry press releases or technical white papers they may publish.

Customers and members can already benefit from even simpler and more immediate connectivity to hundreds of ASNs across Europe as the Cross-IX ecosystem grows. MIX's city and Italy are experiencing significant growth in terms of interconnections and hubs supporting the development of digital infrastructure, Talotta added. Additional connectivity hubs are planned for activation soon.

In conclusion, while the specifics of Cross-IX's planned expansion remain unclear, the service offers a significant step towards simplifying interconnections between networks in Europe, benefiting both customers and the digital infrastructure development in various European countries.

The growing Cross-IX service, now available, is not only simplifying interconnections in Europe but also bridging the gap between the finance, technology, sports, and industry sectors. With AMS-IX members and customers in Amsterdam extending their coverage to the Nordic countries or Italy by connecting directly to Netnod IX or MIX, this development could potentially open doors for sports broadcasting companies to reach wider European audiences more efficiently. Furthermore, the planned activation of additional connectivity hubs can also leverage the potential of technology and finance industries in these cities, foster collaborative opportunities, and bolster Europe's standing as a global digital hub.
