Lucid Motors Expands Operations in Europe
Lucid Motors, the California-based electric vehicle company, is making strides in Europe with its ambitious expansion plans. The company, known for its high-performance luxury electric vehicles, is aiming for a broader presence in the European premium segment.
Collaborations with renowned brands such as Aston Martin and Uber in the robotaxi sector demonstrate Lucid's ambition to make its technology accessible to third parties. The company is also expanding its role as a technology provider to other manufacturers.
The debut product in Europe is the Lucid Motors SUV Gravity, and three new models for the high-volume crossover and SUV segment will be created on a new modular platform. Production in strategic partner Saudi Arabia opens up favorable trade routes and logistical advantages for Europe.
Lucid Motors is gradually expanding its sales and service network. Previously, the company targeted a niche segment with the luxury sedan Air and had a small dealer network. Now, the company aims to expand its network to 50 to 60 so-called touchpoints by the end of 2026. In Germany, the number of Lucid Motors' stationary locations will grow from four to up to 15.
The company is also introducing digital and mobile service solutions in Europe, following the U.S. model. Lucid Motors has technological cooperation partnerships with companies such as Aston Martin and Uber, and also an exclusive full-service leasing partnership in Germany with Kazenmaier Leasing GmbH, combining advanced electric vehicle technology with leasing expertise.
Lucid Motors is also expanding in other European markets, with eight more countries to be added in the coming months. However, the company is currently refraining from entering the Chinese market due to high entry barriers and strong local competition.
One of the most exciting developments is the road test of the Lucid Air Sapphire, the company's high-performance electric sedan. With these expansions and new models, Lucid Motors is set to make a significant impact in the European market.
