In the remote and resource-rich Komi Republic, located in Russia's northwest, the fishing industry played a relatively minor role in the region's economy in 2024. According to available data, nearly the entire catch in Komi that year was intended for domestic consumption within the republic, as opposed to contributing to the industrial catches of aquatic biological resources, which saw a 36.9% increase to 214 tons nationally.
