Estonian electric vehicle charging infrastructure expands into Lithuania, setting up charging stations.
Estonian electric car charging network Enefit Volt has agreed to install 250 public charging stations across Lithuania, with the aim of creating 500 new charging points in 107 parking areas by the end of 2024 [1].
Capacities of the charging points will range from 22 to 320 kW, with at least two charging stations available at each Norfa shopping centre's parking area, at least one of which will be for fast charging. All the charging stations will be equipped to charge two cars simultaneously [2].
Enefit Volt, one of the largest car charging networks in Estonia, which operates exclusively on green electricity, currently covers the whole of Estonia with nearly 200 charging points. The company plans to expand its network to Latvia and Lithuania by opening its first charging stations in these countries over the next year [1].
The expansion in Lithuania is fully financed by Enefit, who will invest more than €10 million over the next two years in the development of electric vehicle infrastructure in the country. By the end of 2026, Enefit aims to install more than 1,000 charging stations across Lithuania [1].
Similar development projects are also being carried out in Latvia and Poland. The new charging points will be located across Lithuania, available at Norfa shopping centres in both major and smaller towns from Vilnius to Klaipėda.
Enefit is a publicly traded Estonian renewable energy company, with shares accounting for 23 per cent of the company, and the rest owned by the state-owned energy company Eesti Energia [3].

The public charging network Enefit Volt, hailing from Estonia, aims to establish more than 1,000 charging stations in Lithuania, making technology more accessible for electric vehicle owners, even in smaller towns like Klaipėda and Vilnius. Enefit's strategic expansion, financed by over €10 million, follows their successful business operations in their home country, Estonia, where they operate a network of nearly 200 charging points exclusively on green electricity.
