Enhanced Powernode from Bluesound: Boosted power output and reduced distortion for unrivaled sound quality

The 2025 Bluesound Powernode is causing a ripple in the streaming amplifier world, and rightly so. This badass new version (much like its namesake predecessor, simply dubbed 'Bluesound Powernode') delivers more juice with a punch of less distortion and a smarter home integration.

100W per channel of that 'DirectDigital' amplification kicks the previous model's 80W per channel 'HybridDigital' to the curb. Bluesound gives a shout-out to "people who want a powerful sound in a straightforward, streamlined package, a way to stream music and enjoy TV without the hassle of multiple devices, remote controls, or tangled wires."

Feeling like an AV receiver, the Powernode's HDMI eARC support and ability to add a centre channel alongside the left and right channels make it an excellent choice for a full 5.1 surround system. All you need to add is a subwoofer and some wireless speakers, and you're good to go, mate.

In its inner workings, the new design features an improved circuitry with better signal path. The 100W per channel is for stereo mode only, while in a 3.1 configuration it falls back to 80W per channel. Bluesound guarantees that its DirectDigital amplification and gallium nitride (GaN) tech result in "virtually no distortion", but, as always, we'll be the ones to decide that. Given that its predecessor scored a fabulous five stars, expectations are running high.

Like other cool Bluesound products, it runs the BluOS multi-room streaming platform, which supports top notch streaming partners like Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Deezer. It plays nicely with high-res audio formats up to 24-bit/192kHz, MQA, and DSD256.

Aside from streaming platforms, BluOS accesses locally stored media, internet radio, and offers Dirac Live Ready for room correction and audio tuning. The 2025 Powernode will make an appearance on September 10 with pre-orders starting on August 12 for $1,199. Keep an eye out for our review as soon as we get our hands on it.
