Enhanced Mobile Connectivity in Hanover's Region by Telekom

In the heart of Lower Saxony, Hannover is set to witness a significant boost in mobile network coverage and speed. Deutsche Telekom, Germany's leading mobile network provider, is spearheading this expansion, with plans to add 67 new sites over the next three years, bringing the total to 541 sites in the region.

The mobile network expansion includes the operation of two new antenna sites in Laatzen and Lehrte. Existing mobile antennas in Garbsen, Hannover, Hemmingen, Langenhagen, Lehrte, Pattensen, Ronnenberg, Seelze, Sehnde, Springe, and Wunstorf have been modernized to support the growing demand for mobile internet.

One of the key sites is located in Lehrte, serving the Lower Saxony East railway line. This expansion aims to increase the supply of fast mobile internet to almost 100% of households in the region.

Deutsche Telekom is keeping up with the pace of mobile network expansion, as bandwidth demand increases by around 30% per year. To achieve this, the company relies on cooperation with municipalities or landowners to lease land for new sites. Landlords who offer land for mobile sites receive a long-term, location-appropriate rent.

The expansion also involves increasing 5G coverage by adding new sites and upgrading existing LTE sites to support 5G NR (New Radio). Technologies such as Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) are being implemented to enable LTE and 5G on the same spectrum. This enhancement aims to support growing data consumption and IoT applications.

Emergency calls and warnings are possible at all sites in the region of Hannover. The mobile sites in the district also support the emergency call technology Advanced Mobile Location (AML) and the warning system Cell Broadcast. Interested parties can offer a site for a roof or mast location by contacting Deutsche Funkturm at www.dfmg.de/standortangebot.

For accurate, detailed plans specific to Hannover, consulting official announcements from network operators active in Germany (e.g., Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, Telefónica Germany) or local regulatory authorities (like Bundesnetzagentur) would be necessary.

Telekom currently operates 474 sites in the Hannover region and has been confirmed as having the best mobile network in Germany by specialist magazines Chip, connect, ComputerBild, and Imtest. This expansion is a testament to the company's commitment to delivering a connected future for Hannover.

The technology used in this expansion includes Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) and 5G New Radio (5G NR), aiming to support growing data consumption and IoT applications. In line with this, Deutsche Telekom is increasing 5G coverage by adding new sites and upgrading existing LTE sites to support 5G NR.
