Emergency services in Bottrop, the fire brigade, receive updates from NINA and emergency communication points.
The Bottrop Fire Department is inviting all residents to learn about the NINA warning app and Emergency Information Points (EIPs) on August 21 at the after-work market in Kirchhellen. The event, which will take place on the town hall square, is part of a summer-long social media campaign to increase awareness of these important emergency resources.
The NINA warning app is a government-issued emergency notification service designed to provide early warnings for various civil emergencies, such as severe weather, floods, fires, and other imminent dangers affecting public safety. The app delivers real-time alerts and safety instructions to help people prepare or take immediate action to protect themselves.
The app is available in eight languages, making it accessible to as many people as possible. Citizens are encouraged to know the location of their nearest EIP for quick help and information in an emergency. EIPs are points of contact in case of prolonged power outages or a total failure of the telephone network.
Visitors to the booth can learn about the functions of the NINA warning app and get help with installation. The fire department, along with the city administration, is committed to increasing the number of users of the NINA warning app.
In addition to promoting the NINA warning app, the Bottrop Fire Department will also provide information about EIPs. This will include showing visitors where their personal EIP is located.
The social media campaign will include short, understandable contributions and illustrative content to make it easy for residents to learn about the NINA warning app and EIPs. The goal is to further increase the number of NINA warning app users and ensure that more people are prepared for emergencies.
Approximately 37,000 Bottrop residents have already installed the NINA warning app on their smartphones. The app provides information on hazardous substance dispersion, large fires, weather warnings, and flood information, among other things.
The Bottrop Fire Department had an information booth on civil protection at the after-work market in Kirchhellen last Friday, giving residents a taste of what to expect on August 21. It is hoped that the event will be well-attended and that more residents will take advantage of the opportunity to learn about the NINA warning app and EIPs.
The NINA warning app, being a government-issued emergency notification service, utilizes technology to deliver real-time alerts and safety instructions during civil emergencies, such as fires and severe weather. Additionally, Emergency Information Points (EIPs), essential contacts in case of prolonged power outages or network failure, are vital technology-based resources that residents should know the location of for quick help in emergencies.
