Embraer's E190F Set for Global Market Boost as EASA Certification Nears
Embraer's E190F 'Passenger to Freighter' (P2F) conversion programme has received a significant boost. The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is expected to grant certification before the end of the year, opening up a substantial portion of the global stock market for the aircraft.
The E190F, with a maximum structural payload of 13,500 kilograms, offers a compelling solution for cargo operators. Its FAA certification, covering both structural modifications and the cargo loading system developed by US Cargo System, ensures safety and efficiency in operations.
Embraer's Chief Commercial Officer, Martyn Holmes, hailed the FAA certification as a major milestone. The E-Jets converted to freighters provide 40% more cargo volume and triple the range of large turboprop freighters, with up to 30% lower operating costs compared to the next-largest narrow-body jet stocks. This makes them an attractive option for cargo operators seeking to enhance their networks and reduce costs.
The E190F programme began in May 2022, and the first completed aircraft was showcased at the Farnborough Airshow this year. Wolfgang Borgmann, an editor at AERO INTERNATIONAL since February 2022, reported on the aircraft's debut.
With EASA certification expected before the end of the year, the E190F is poised to make a significant impact on the global stock market today. Its impressive payload, range, and cost efficiency make it a strong contender in the freighter market, offering operators a competitive edge in their networks.
