Electrolyzer set up at Flins facility in France by HYVIA for the first time
In a significant move towards the development of hydrogen mobility in Europe, French company HYVIA has partnered with global hydrogen solutions leader Plug. This partnership, operational since June 2021, is not only driving innovation but also fostering a unique ecosystem for hydrogen mobility for professionals.
HYVIA's ecosystem encompasses not only the development and deployment of light H2 utility vehicles but also solutions for hydrogen supply, financing, and maintenance. The company's commitment to sustainability is evident in its use of green hydrogen, produced by the Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) technology-equipped electrolyzer installed at its facility in France.
On April 5, 2023, Plug delivered a 1 MW electrolyzer to HYVIA, marking a significant industrial and human challenge. This installation is part of a series of installations in various countries, including France, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, and others.
The electrolyzer installation at HYVIA is a crucial step in the development of skills for the Renault Group's Refactory in Flins, dedicated to the circular economy. It allows for the testing of more than 1,000 fuel cells per year, contributing to the advancement of hydrogen technology.
The second electrolyzer used by HYVIA is manufactured by McPhy, further solidifying the partnership's commitment to sustainable solutions. Plug, a world leader in hydrogen solutions, has deployed more than 60,000 fuel cell systems and designed and built 185 refueling stations that distribute more than 70 tons of hydrogen per day.
The strength of the collaboration between Plug and the Renault Group is evident in the successful electrolyzer installation at HYVIA. The installed electrolyzer has a daily production capacity of 400 kg of green hydrogen, a significant contribution to the transition towards a sustainable and hydrogen-powered future.
