Electric Vehicle Launch Approaching for Kia's Carens Clavis: Introduces Innovative K-Charge Feature

Kia Unveils Carens Clavis EV: India's First Homegrown Electric MPV

Kia India is set to launch its first made-in-India electric vehicle (EV), the Carens Clavis EV, on 15 July. This all-electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) targets families seeking sustainable mobility in India, marking an expansion of Kia's EV portfolio in the country.

The Carens Clavis EV will be equipped with over 250 EV-ready workshops across India, each boasting specialized tools and trained technicians to ensure seamless maintenance and servicing.

Kia has also introduced the K-Charge network, covering urban areas and highways in India, to support both daily commutes and long-distance journeys. The K-Charge feature, integrated into the MyKia app, offers access to over 11,000 charging points across the country, a number that is expected to grow to 20,000 by mid-2026.

The EV Route Planner, available on Kia's website and MyKia app, simplifies charging by locating stations, checking real-time slot availability, and making payments directly. This feature eliminates the need for multiple third-party apps, enhancing convenience for EV drivers in India.

The Carens Clavis EV's specifications and pricing are yet to be officially confirmed. However, it is expected to share powertrain specifications with the Hyundai Creta Electric, featuring two battery options: a 42 kWh pack and a larger 51.4 kWh pack. The vehicle is likely to have a single electric motor mounted on the front axle, and it may be priced to challenge the BYD eMax 7, which retails between ₹26.90 lakh and ₹29.90 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.

Kia offers home charging solutions with 7.4kW and 11kW AC chargers for efficient at-home charging. Due to its larger dimensions, the Carens Clavis EV's performance may slightly differ from its Hyundai cousin in India.

In partnership with Tata Power and Tata Power-DDL, Kia India provides over 11,000 charging points within the K-Charge system. This partnership is part of a larger collaboration with 18 leading charging operators in India.

As Kia continues to invest in India's electric vehicle infrastructure, the Carens Clavis EV's launch represents a significant step towards a more sustainable future for Indian families. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new EV in India!
