This sleek, futuristic ship, soon to be christened RPA ZERO, is all about zero emissions. As it gears up for high speeds, the hull lifts gracefully out of the water, slashing air resistance and reducing wave disturbance. This nifty trick amplifies energy efficiency and makes for a cleaner, greener harbor.

Riding the Sustainable Wave

By 2037, the Port of Rotterdam Authority's entire fleet will have reached the end of the line. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to upgrade, the Authority is planning a wholesale revamp of the fleet to make it greener, standardize maintenance, and simplify operations. This initiative kicks off with the RPA ZERO pilot project to assess whether hydrofoil boats can meet the Harbour Master's Department's rigorous control and monitoring demands.

The leaders of the Port of Rotterdam Authority are pursuing a bold vision of sailing a highly efficient, emission-free fleet. As they race ahead in the eco-race, it's crucial that the new ships are regularly available and ready to roll, ensuring a smooth, safe, and environmentally-minded harbor.

Ready to Roll, Always

Herman Verweij, the Head of the Ship and Environmental Safety Department at the Harbour Master's Department says, "We pride ourselves on being a smart port, and now we want to be a greener one too. But when the going gets tough, we need to be ready to respond instantly."

The RPA ZERO's potential benefits have caught the Harbour Master's Department's eye. Verweij explains, "This electric hydrofoil ship from Artemis Technologies dazzles with its minimal wave impact and remarkable stability, particular in rough waters. We can't wait to dig deeper into how we can meld electric hydrofoil boats into our fleet."

Weighing Opportunities and Perils

The pilot project will run until November 2025, during which the Authority will perform tests on deployment feasibility, opportunities, and risks associated with hydrofoil boats in their daily operations. They've rented the ship from Artemis Technologies, and the Northern Irish company is eager to demonstrate the adaptability and reliability of its hydrofoil boats through this partnership.
