Electric reincarnation of the Jaecoo 5 Range Rover Evoque look-alike arrives: Jaecoo E5 unveiled

The automobile brand JAECOO is set to bring a new player into the UK market with the introduction of the Jaecoo E5, an electric compact SUV. This latest model, priced at £27,505 in its Pure trim, is backed by a 7-year, 100,000-mile warranty and is due for its first UK deliveries in October.

The Jaecoo E5 boasts a range of modern features, including digital instruments, auto lights, Sony Sound, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. It also offers a 13.2-inch portrait infotainment system for an enhanced driving experience. Powering the Jaecoo E5 is a 61.8kWh battery, which promises a 248-mile range. Under the hood, the electric SUV boasts a 204bhp electric motor, enabling it to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 7.7 seconds.

While the Jaecoo E5 is making waves in the electric vehicle news, it's not the only newcomer. The Chery Brand 'iCar' is also set to reveal their new V27 4x4 in Dubai, a vehicle that resembles the Land Rover Defender. The Chery Tiggo 8, another offering from the brand, is already available in the UK, boasting seven seats and prices starting from £28,545. The Tiggo 8 is intended to challenge cars like the Skoda Kodiaq and Nissan X-Trail. It goes on sale in the UK with ICE and PHEV powertrains.

Legacy car makers are finding it increasingly challenging to compete in this changing landscape. As governments legislate a future where only electric cars can be sold, new brands like JAECOO and Chery are seizing the opportunity to make their mark. The Jaecoo 5, the internal combustion engine counterpart to the E5, initially comes with a 1.6-litre petrol engine, with an electric version to follow.

Chery, the manufacturer of the Jaecoo and Omoda brands, already has a presence in the UK. The first UK deliveries of the Jaecoo E5 are due in October, offering British drivers an exciting new option in the electric vehicle market.
