Egypt Licenses 7 Firms for IoT Car Services, Boosting Digital Auto Sector
Egypt has taken a significant step towards digitalising its automotive sector. Seven international companies have been granted licenses to provide Internet of Things (IoT) services for cars in the country. The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, oversaw the signing of these new licenses.
The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) approved these services, which align with Egypt's digital transformation strategy. The companies awarded licenses include OnStar from General Motors, IM brand from Mansour MG Automotive, BMW from Global Auto, and others like Volvo, Aston Martin, Lotus, and Lynk & Co from Alpha Ezz El-Arab. These services, which ensure user data protection and privacy, include navigation systems, tracking features, and emergency assistance tools. This move is set to enhance the driving experience and safety in Egypt.
