Dubai to Showcase Gaming Sector at Gamescom 2025
Dubai is set to participate in Gamescom 2025, Europe's largest gaming trade fair, as part of its strategic initiative, the Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 (DPG33). Launched in 2023 under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, DPG33 aims to transform Dubai into a leading global destination for gaming.
The Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 (DPG33) has ambitious goals, including boosting Dubai's GDP by $1 billion and creating 30,000 jobs in the gaming industry. The programme is designed to build an ecosystem that combines innovation, education, advanced technology, and talent development to reinforce Dubai’s leadership in digital creativity and the gaming industry worldwide.
The Dubai pavilion at Gamescom 2025 will be represented by the Dubai Future Foundation, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre. The pavilion's purpose is to highlight Dubai's growing influence in the global gaming sector and promote its talent, infrastructure, and investment opportunities.
The participation at Gamescom 2025 emphasizes Dubai's commitment to fostering innovation and building global partnerships. With over 350 companies in its gaming sector, Dubai's strategic step to participate in the event is a significant move towards expanding its creative economy and strengthening its position in the global gaming landscape.
The Middle East's first government pavilion at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany, is expected to draw a record attendance of visitors from 122 countries. Gamescom 2025, held at the Koelnmesse exhibition centre, is a platform for showcasing the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in the gaming industry.
The Dubai pavilion at Gamescom 2025 is a testament to Dubai's vision of becoming a top 10 global gaming hub by 2033. The initiative to position Dubai among the world's top gaming hubs has already attracted more than 60 new companies in the past two years.
In the gaming sector, 74% of the companies specialize in game development, reflecting Dubai's focus on innovation and creativity in the industry. With the Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 (DPG33) and its participation at events like Gamescom 2025, Dubai is well on its way to achieving its goal of becoming a leading global destination for gaming.
