DJI Mini 5 Pro leaked images suggest new model features a 'C0' tag, enlarged 1-inch camera, and apparent design overhaul hints
The DJI Mini 5 Pro, the latest addition to the Mini series, is set to revolutionise the compact drone market. With its lightweight design and advanced features, it promises to be a powerful and versatile drone for creators seeking cinematic capabilities in a compact size.
The Mini 5 Pro is confirmed to weigh under 250 grams, making it exempt from stricter drone regulations in many regions, including the UK and EU. This ultra-lightweight classification is a significant advantage, as it allows for easier portability and manoeuvrability.
One of the standout features of the Mini 5 Pro is its 1-inch image sensor, paired with a 24mm f/1.8 lens. This combination is expected to deliver superior image quality, particularly in low-light conditions. The drone is also capable of 4K video at up to 120fps, offering cinematic slow motion capabilities.
The Mini 5 Pro's gimbal system allows for a tilt of up to 225 degrees, providing a wide range of shooting angles, including true vertical shooting. It also features a 48mm telephoto mode, expanding the drone's focal length options.
Safety and navigation have not been overlooked. The Mini 5 Pro includes Lidar-based obstacle avoidance for superior obstacle detection, and an AI-powered omnidirectional tracking system for dynamic subjects.
The Mini 5 Pro is also expected to support OcuSync 4+ transmission, offering a maximum range of up to 25km. Moreover, it might have a new side button that enables the drone to launch without a controller, providing more flexibility for users.
While some details are still speculative, it's clear that the DJI Mini 5 Pro is shaping up to be a more powerful and versatile Mini drone compared to its predecessors. It's expected to hit the market in September 2025, with earlier rumours of an August 7 release pushed back due to shipping delays.
Interestingly, leaked packaging images suggest a possibility of regional weight variations or different battery options depending on location, as the "<249g" marking is omitted in some images.
In addition, it's rumoured that the Mini 5 Pro may be compatible with existing Mini 3 and Mini 4 Pro batteries, making it a potential upgrade for existing Mini series users.
With its advanced features and compact design, the DJI Mini 5 Pro is poised to be a game-changer in the compact drone market, catering to the needs of content creators seeking high-end camera and flight features without the weight of larger drones.
