Disney+ Revamps with New Navigation, Prominent Hulu Role, Price Hike Coming
Disney is revamping its streaming platform with a new navigation bar and a more prominent role for Hulu. The changes come as Disney+ prepares to introduce a price increase for its ad-supported and ad-free plans on October 21.
The new navigation bar will feature tabs for 'For You', Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN, with the availability of each tab depending on the user's subscription. Meanwhile, the Disney+ homepage will receive a visual upgrade, showcasing a video display in the 'hero' carousel and poster-style imagery.
The revamp also includes plans to integrate Hulu and ESPN more fully into Disney+ over the next year. This will culminate in a unified app experience, with bundle prices adjusted accordingly. Additionally, Disney+ is set to introduce 'mobile-first and mobile-exclusive experiences' for its phone version in the coming year.
To enhance user experience, the 'For You' tab will employ an updated algorithm for personalized recommendations. A new 'live' hub will also be introduced, providing easy access to live news content.
