dena Launches KEDi Project to Boost Energy Efficiency in Buildings via Digital Heating Monitoring

The Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena) has launched the Competence Center for Energy Efficiency through Digitalization in Industry and Buildings (KEDi). The ongoing project, which began in 2022, aims to harness the potential of energy efficiency via digitalization, particularly focusing on heating systems in buildings.

Currently, the operating status of many heating systems in buildings remains unknown. To address this, KEDi explores heating monitoring as a means to ensure trouble-free and efficient operation. By monitoring and optimizing these systems, both tenants and landlords can benefit from improved energy efficiency and economic operation.

Many heating systems are inefficiently set up, leading to high energy consumption and excessive wear. KEDi seeks to rectify this by promoting digitalization and energy efficiency, and providing a legal framework for both industry and the building sector. The project also delves into artificial intelligence to enhance these efforts.

KEDi, supported by dena, is dedicated to assisting small and medium-sized enterprises and the building industry in achieving energy efficiency through digitalization. By focusing on heating monitoring and optimization, the project aims to provide more transparency, energy efficiency, and economic operation, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable future.
