Delta Air Lines Partners with Maeve Aerospace to Develop Sustainable Regional Aircraft

Delta Air Lines, a leading name in the aviation industry, is collaborating with Maeve Aerospace, a European company with offices in Germany and the Netherlands, to develop the MAEVE Jet – a new hybrid-electric regional aircraft designed to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

This partnership is part of Delta's strategy to build a more sustainable future of travel through collaboration and innovation. The goal is to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, a commitment that is being strengthened through this collaboration.

The MAEVE Jet is designed to cut fuel consumption and emissions by up to 40% compared with current regional aircraft using conventional jet fuel. This could be further reduced when using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the MAEVE Jet.

As Maeve's North American global airline partner, Delta will contribute operational expertise during the MAEVE Jet's development. This partnership supports a key milestone in Delta's 2023 Sustainability Roadmap.

Maeve has joined Delta's Sustainable Skies Lab as its fifth revolutionary fleet partner. The Sustainable Skies Lab focuses on testing and accelerating innovative solutions for lower-emission air travel.

Delta is also partnering with Airbus and Boeing for research on advanced aerodynamic design solutions. Alongside Maeve for regional flights, these include JetZero for blended wing body mainline aircraft.

The MAEVE Jet features a single-aisle layout with five-abreast seating, aiming to provide comfort without compromising on efficiency. Maeve expects the MAEVE Jet to redefine regional air travel by combining efficiency and passenger comfort in a sustainable package.

This partnership supports Delta's strategy to explore cleaner and more efficient aircraft solutions. Delta aims to drive fuel savings, improve customer experience, and accelerate the adoption of sustainable technologies. The partnerships aim to push the industry towards lower emissions, improved efficiency, and more sustainable operations.

In addition to the MAEVE Jet, Delta has partnered with Joby for electric home-to-airport air transport. With these partnerships, Delta now has a portfolio of revolutionary fleet partners spanning different market segments.

These collaborations position Delta to support cutting-edge aircraft development and drive the industry towards a more sustainable future. Delta's commitment to sustainability is clear, and with partners like Maeve Aerospace, Airbus, Boeing, Joby, and the Sustainable Skies Lab, the future of travel looks greener than ever.
