Telegram, the popular messaging app, is gearing up for a significant change as it announces plans to introduce an ad platform for public channels. This move aims to monetize the service, with the goal of reaching 500 million users by the end of the year. The app's founder, Pavel Durov, has revealed that Telegram needs "a few hundred million dollars every year" to continue operations. However, the rest of the app features will remain free, offering users flexibility instead of old school scheduling.

Meanwhile, in the world of micro-lending, PremierCredit has secured $650k from Enygma Ventures. This funding will help PremierCredit expand across the SADC region. In the realm of digital payments, OPay is making strides in its expansion plans. The company, which currently has an estimated 300,000 agents in Nigeria, plans to expand to 500,000. While the exact next step in OPay's African expansion is not yet clear, the company's announcement of this expansion was disclosed to Bloomberg. Zoom, another tech giant, is looking to expand its services. The company is exploring email and calendar services, aiming to provide a more comprehensive suite of tools for remote work and collaboration.
