Dacia's Pick-Up Legacy: From 1975 to Hybrid Models in 2025

Dacia, renowned for its affordable cars, has a rich history with pick-up trucks. The first Dacia pick-up, based on the Dacia 1300, rolled off the production line in 1975. Since then, the Romanian automaker has introduced several pick-up variants, with new models expected in the coming years.

The first Dacia pick-up generation, produced until 2006, included three body versions: 'Drop Side' and 'Double Cab', with optional four-wheel drive. In 2008, the Dacia Logan Pick-up was introduced, offering a loading area up to 1.81 meters long and a payload of 725 kilograms. This model came with four diesel engines (68-88 PS) and a 1.6-litre petrol engine (84 PS), along with standard ABS and driver airbag.

In 2014, Dacia presented the Duster Pick-up with a 1.70-meter long loading area and a maximum payload of 450 kilograms. Powered by a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine (110 PS), this model was a hit in the Romanian market. The same year, Renault introduced the Duster Oroch Pick-up in Brazil, based on the first Duster generation.

Dacia plans to continue its pick-up legacy. In 2020, it introduced a pick-up variant based on the second generation Duster for the Romanian market. In autumn 2025, a full-fledged pick-up variant based on the third Duster generation is expected, with production planned for selected Eastern European markets. This model will feature a four-door cab and an extremely small loading area, with a payload of 450 kilograms and hybrid powertrain options.

Dacia's pick-up story spans over four decades, with models like the Logan Pick-up and Duster Pick-up gaining popularity. The upcoming third generation Duster Pick-up, with its hybrid powertrain options, is set to continue this legacy in selected Eastern European markets.
