CRRC Unveils Fully Electric Double-Decker Bus for Global Cities

CRRC, a leading global train manufacturer, has made a significant stride into the electric bus market. At Busworld Europe 2025, the company unveiled a fully electric double-decker bus, designed in collaboration with Hong Kong operators, for customers in Hong Kong and global markets.

The bus, 12 metres long, 2.55 metres wide, and 4.4 metres high, boasts impressive power output of 480 kW and torque of 5,100 Nm. It is built to withstand challenging conditions, including steep gradients and high passenger volumes, making it suitable for dense cities like Hong Kong, Singapore, and London.

CRRC incorporated safety features such as an advanced battery management system and electronic assistance systems adapted from its rail transit technologies. The company also used lightweight structural materials from European suppliers to enhance strength, reduce vibration, and minimize noise. The design process involved Hong Kong operators, ensuring the bus meets local needs.

CRRC plans to expand its electric bus portfolio to wider Asia-Pacific and European markets in the coming years. The company aims to strengthen its international presence in both intercity and urban bus markets, with Hong Kong serving as the pilot location for the double-decker bus.

CRRC's commitment to electric mobility is evident in its unveiling of the 100% electric EU12C intercity coach and the double-decker bus at Busworld Europe 2025. With its robust design, advanced safety features, and adaptability to challenging conditions, the double-decker bus is poised to make a significant impact on global public transportation.
