Council plans to invest £1.2 million in electric vehicle chargepoint project for their 550-strong fleet in Islington
The CiTTi Awards, a highly anticipated event for the UK's transportation sector, is set to recognise achievements and innovations in EV charging infrastructure next year. One such innovation is taking shape in Islington, where the council is partnering with Compleo to reduce its carbon footprint and improve air quality.
Compleo, a company specializing in electric vehicle charging solutions, will be responsible for installing a £1.2 million EV charging station system in Islington. The installation, which will commence in early 2025 and be completed over a two-year period, will include AC, DC, and high-speed chargers. These chargers will be used to replenish Islington Council's fleet of electric cars, coaches, and tipper trucks.
Rowena Champion, the executive member for environment, air quality, and transport in Islington Council, said, "This partnership is a vital step in electrifying Islington Council's fleet, demonstrating our commitment to sustainability and efficiency."
The electrification of Islington Council's fleet is a significant move, as the UK prepares to introduce EV taxation from April 2025. This shift towards electric vehicles is part of Islington Council's broader efforts to combat climate change and promote cleaner transportation.
The CiTTi Awards, taking place on 25 November 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London, will provide an excellent platform to celebrate such initiatives. More information about the CiTTi Awards can be found at www.cittiawards.co.uk.
It's an unmissable event for anyone interested in the future of transportation in the UK. Don't miss out on the opportunity to witness the recognition of pioneering work in the EV charging sector and be inspired by the strides being made towards a greener future.
