Coromandel International Announces Impressive 49% Increase in Q1 FY2026 Revenue

Coromandel International Limited, a leading Indian agribusiness conglomerate, is making significant strides in various sectors, including phosphates, drone spraying services, retail, and technology-driven agriculture.

Phosphates:

In a strategic move to strengthen its backward integration in the phosphates value chain, Coromandel has acquired an additional 17.69% stake in Baobab Mining and Chemicals Corporation (BMCC), Senegal, increasing its overall holding to 71.51%. This acquisition secures vital raw material sources and enhances supply chain resilience.

Backward integration projects for Phosphoric Acid and Sulphuric Acid plants at Kakinada are progressing well, with commissioning expected by Q4 FY25-26. Preparations are also underway for setting up a 7.5 lakh ton fertilizer granulation facility at Kakinada, supporting high-quality NPK fertilizer production. A long-term agreement has been signed with Maaden (Saudi Arabia) to secure DAP shipments to India, ensuring consistent phosphate fertilizer supply.

In an eco-friendly initiative, Coromandel has also entered into a joint venture with Sakarni Plaster to manufacture and market Phospho Gypsum-based green building materials, utilising an industrial by-product and reflecting circular economy practices.

Drone Spraying Services:

Coromandel has expanded its drone spraying operations under the ‘Gromor Drive’ initiative, covering 2.2 lakh acres across seven Indian states. The integration of drone spraying services into their retail channels is an indication of combining technology with farmer outreach.

Retail:

The retail business is aggressively expanding, adding over 70 new stores in Q1 FY26, with a target of reaching 1,200 stores by the end of FY26. This expansion supports Coromandel’s integrated crop management approach, including specialty, organic, bio, nano fertilizers, and the Gromor Drive services.

Technology-Driven Agriculture:

Coromandel inaugurated a high-tech polyhouse at its Telangana R&D facility to boost precision agriculture research and new product development. Research supported by agricultural institutes demonstrated yield improvements (2.4% to 27%) from Nano DAP (nano-sized diammonium phosphate), showcasing the adoption of advanced formulations enhancing productivity. The company has also launched 10 new products in Crop Protection, including in-licensed molecules and novel formulations, strengthening their portfolio.

In summary, Coromandel International focuses on strengthening its phosphate supply chain through acquisitions and backward integration, expanding drone-based crop care across multiple states, rapidly growing its retail presence, and investing in precision agriculture and innovative products. These initiatives align with their vision to build a resilient supply chain and promote sustainable, technology-driven farming solutions.
