Console-exclusive Mecha Break set for summer release revealed during Summer Game Fest event
After an impressive performance during their beta test with over 3 million players and 300K concurrent players, it's finally confirmed — Mecha BREAK is set to launch on July 1, 2025. The action unfolds across both Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Barely chomping at the bit to get my hands on this free-to-play mecha shooter, I'm certainly not alone. With Mecha BREAK being the sixth-most wish-listed game on Steam, the excitement's palpable.
Our writer was pretty smitten with the beta preview, urging both mecha fans and competitive multiplayer enthusiasts alike to give it a whirl, "Mecha BREAK is definitely worth checking out if you're into mech games or simply like shooting up rival teams."
What grabs my interest the most about Mecha Break is its forward-thinking approach to pay-to-win mechanics. Rather than clogging up the game with level-ups or premium experience packs, all of Mecha Break's microtransactions are purely cosmetic. A rare stroke of genius in the free-to-play market.
Coming exclusively to Xbox consoles and PC, the developers are banking on the exclusivity deal with Microsoft due to its aggressive strategy. To clarify, the developers quipped that working with Xbox was a wise move since saturated mecha games are a predominant feature in the Japanese market. Bringing the game to the Western market through Xbox was seen as a safer gamble.
With only a little over three weeks until its release, the timing couldn't be better as it'll drop smack dab in the middle of large multiplayer games. Catch it after Dune: Awakening and before the heavily anticipated ARC Raiders.
For those yet to jump on the Mecha Break bandwagon, take a peek at the latest trailer or explore one of the many gameplay videos on YouTube. One glance and it's easy to see why I find it this one of the best-looking mech games in years — you just can't ignore the raw power and elegance of those robot giants!
