Israel has made a significant stride in its defense capabilities with the successful completion of the development of a ground-breaking laser defense system named 'Iron Beam.' The system, developed primarily by Israeli defense company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems in collaboration with Elbit Systems, is set to revolutionize Israel's air defense systems.

Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, described the development as a 'historic milestone' for Israel's defense capabilities. In a statement, he added that enemies from various regions, including Gaza, Iran, Lebanon, Yemen, should be aware of Israel's strong defense and attack capabilities.

The laser defense system, 'Iron Beam,' is designed to neutralize threats like drones. According to US reports, the cost to neutralize a target such as a drone with this system is estimated to be significantly lower than traditional missile interceptors, costing a few thousand dollars per shot, making it a cost-effective solution compared to expensive missile interceptions.

The operating costs of 'Iron Beam' are also significantly lower compared to existing defense systems. Prototypes of tactical short-range lasers from 'Iron Beam' have already been used in the current war and have intercepted dozens of threats. According to US reports, neutralizing a drone with 'Iron Beam' costs approximately four dollars per use.

Minister Katz stated that the first systems of the laser defense weapon are expected to be integrated into Israel's air defense by the end of the year. He added that Israel will do everything to protect the security of Israeli citizens.

The laser defense system, 'Iron Beam,' can intercept rockets, mortar shells, aircraft, and drones in various scenarios with quick and precise targeting technology and high efficiency. The successful completion of the development and testing phase is a 'decisive milestone' before the system is handed over to the army for operational use.

Israel is the first country to possess a laser defense system like 'Iron Beam.' The Israeli Ministry of Defense announced the successful completion of the laser defense weapon's development, marking a significant leap in Israel's defense technology. Minister Katz emphasized that this development underscores Israel's commitment to maintaining a strong and technologically advanced defense system.
