City library to receive a digital stele
The city of [city name] has taken a significant step towards modernising its information and navigation services with the introduction of a digital, interactive stele at the new city library located at Münsterstraße 21.
This innovative addition, similar to the one previously installed at the town hall, provides guests with a quick overview of current events, services, and the new building's layout. Christiane Humann, the library director, expressed her enthusiasm, stating that the digital stele is designed to make information visible without requiring anyone to search for it.
The digital stele, according to Gregor Spanke, the Smart City Coordinator who took up the position in 2020, is part of a test to assess the usefulness of digitally prepared information. Spanke referenced the successful use of similar digital steles at the town hall and saw the library as another location for testing digital information provision.
Astrid Linn, head of the innovative city department, believes the library is a great place to demonstrate the ease of accessing information with digital applications. The library, described as a place where many people gather, is now equipped to cater to the digital needs of its visitors, expanding its services and helping guests find their way around the building.
One of the most practical features of the digital stele is the ability to book appointments, similar to the one at the town hall. This convenience is expected to streamline the process for library guests, saving them time and effort.
The project to install the digital stele in the city library is part of the city's smart city strategy, which aims to improve the quality of life for its citizens through the use of technology. The successful installation at the library marks the first time such a stele is available outside the town hall.
Gregor Spanke sees the library as a valuable testing ground for the digital stele, with the potential for its successful implementation to lead to further expansions across the city. The digital stele in the library is intended to be just the beginning of a digital revolution in the city's information and navigation services.
