Chinese EV Yangwang U9 Xtreme Breaks 300 km/h Barrier
A Chinese electric car, the Yangwang U9 Xtreme, has made history by reaching an astonishing speed of over 300 km/h during a speed test in Germany. Only 30 units of this rare and powerful hypercar will be produced, making it a coveted addition to any enthusiast's collection.
The U9 Xtreme, manufactured by BYD Auto under its luxury sub-brand Yangwang, is a beast under the hood. It boasts four electric motors that generate a combined 2,978 horsepower, all powered by a 1,200-volt platform and dense batteries. Veteran racer Marc Basseng took the wheel and pushed the car to its limits at the ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg test track.
Basseng navigated the banking at speeds over 300 km/h and reached an incredible 496 km/h on the straight, setting a new unofficial speed record for a production car. This remarkable feat signals a shift in the hypercar culture, where electric vehicles are now challenging and even surpassing records previously held by internal combustion engine vehicles.
The Yangwang U9 Xtreme's record-breaking speed test is a testament to the capabilities of modern electric vehicles. With only 30 units to be produced, this rare hypercar is not just a symbol of speed but also a piece of automotive history.
