Canadian Solar & Aypa Power Team Up for 420 MW Ontario Battery Storage Projects
Canadian Solar's e-STORAGE and Aypa Power have joined forces for two major battery storage projects in Ontario, Canada. The Elora and Hedley projects, totalling 420 MW / 2,122 MWh, are set to provide flexible capacity and reliable grid support. Delivery is slated for early 2026, with commercial operation expected in the first half of 2027.
Both projects will utilise e-STORAGE's SolBank product under 20-year LSTAs, ensuring continuous monitoring and performance guarantees. Moe Hajabed, CEO of Aypa Power, highlighted the projects' role in meeting rising demand and maintaining grid reliability. Colin Parkin, President of e-STORAGE, expressed pride in expanding the partnership with Aypa Power through these projects. Upon completion, they will be among the largest energy storage facilities in Ontario.
The projects will provide reliable capacity through the IESO's Long-Term 1 (LT1) Resource Adequacy framework, further bolstering Ontario's grid stability.
The Elora and Hedley projects, a collaboration between e-STORAGE and Aypa Power, are poised to significantly enhance Ontario's energy storage capacity. With delivery in 2026 and commercial operation in 2027, these projects underscore the commitment to sustainable and reliable energy solutions in the province.
