BYD Affirms: Yangwang's Debut in Europe is Imminent

BYD's High-End Yangwang Brand Set to Debut in Europe in 2026

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD is gearing up to introduce its luxury brand, Yangwang, to the European market in 2026. The brand, which currently competes with luxury brands like Bentley, Porsche, and Ferrari in China, will be entering Europe after the rollout of BYD's premium brand, Denza.

The Yangwang lineup includes the U8 off-road SUV, the U9 electric supercar, and the upcoming U7 sedan. In China, the U8 SUV is priced at around RMB 1,089,000 ($151,750), the U9 electric supercar at RMB 1,680,000 ($234,100), and the U7 sedan ranges from RMB 628,000 to 708,000 ($87,520–$98,660). However, due to export tariffs and additional costs, these prices are expected to be higher in the European market.

The U8 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, can rotate 360 degrees on the spot, and can "float" on water. The U9, introduced after the U8, boasts a top speed over 300 km/h and features full hydraulic suspension control, enabling maneuvers like spinning on the spot or driving on three wheels.

The U7 Super-Saloon, a new vehicle model, is expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds with 919 kW (1,250 PS) of power. Unfortunately, specific details about the U9's top speed and the U7 Super-Saloon's pricing in Europe have not been released yet.

BYD Vice President Stella Li confirmed the plans for the European market introduction of Yangwang, positioning it above BYD's core brand and the Denza brand, catering to the premium market. The launch of Denza is set to occur before the European introduction of Yangwang.

The EU's 2024 tariffs on Chinese-built electric vehicles could significantly increase prices, but exact European MSRP figures for Yangwang vehicles have not been revealed. With its high-tech, high-performance flagship models, Yangwang aims to make a strong impact in the ultra-luxury segment of the European market.
