In the bustling city of Beijing, the annual auto show took place in 2010, showcasing the latest innovations in the automotive world. Among the many exhibits, two prototypes from Hunan University (HNUSP) caught the attention of attendees and reporters alike.
The L11680 prototype bus, with its unique design, was one of the standout displays. Measuring 11680x2500x3285, the bus features an unconventional layout, with two wheels on each side in the middle, one wheel at the front, and one wheel at the back. Power is transmitted through the wheels in the middle, and the engine, a 4.2 litre YC4E160-30 with 118kw and 600nm, is situated in the middle of the vehicle for ideal weight distribution. The engine, possibly a diesel, promises a top speed of 125 km/h and a weight of 12 ton.
Inside the L11680, a driver's seat in the middle with a panoramic window offers a unique driving experience. The interior of a smaller version, the L7880 bus, was also open for viewing, providing a glimpse into the potential future of public transportation.
Another intriguing project from HNUSP is the L-DDC4, a potential car based on the same principle as the L11680 prototype bus. While the L11680 is equipped with a Dongfeng engine and some parts, the L-DDC4 is not a Dongfeng chassis. The steering of the L11680 prototype bus is controlled by the single wheels up front and at the back, a design that sets it apart from traditional vehicles.
Reporters were also given the namecard of Professor João da Silva, the staff member in charge of the L-DDC4 project, for further information. The professor plans to provide more details about the L-DDC4 project in the near future.
In a separate exhibit, the Greatwall Haval H5 was presented in a European style, showcasing HNUSP's versatility in the automotive industry. The H5, with its sleek design and modern features, is a testament to the university's commitment to innovation.
As the auto industry continues to evolve, the 2010 Beijing Auto Show serves as a reminder of the exciting advancements yet to come. With HNUSP's unique designs and innovative approaches, the future of transportation looks promising indeed. Stay tuned for more information about the Zhongqi Sedan, HNUSP's first car, which is set to hit the market soon with an 1.8 turbo engine or a hybrid drivetrain.
