BMW's iX5 Hydrogen: A 2028 SUV With A Clean Fuel Cell Future
BMW has announced plans to launch the iX5 Hydrogen, a fuel cell SUV, in 2028. This vehicle, unlike its predecessor, will adopt the 'Neue Klasse' style. It generates electricity from hydrogen and oxygen, emitting only water vapor.
BMW and Toyota are collaborating on the development of the iX5 Hydrogen's drive technology. Michael Rath, a BMW manager, is overseeing this project. The iX5 Hydrogen was previously tested as a fleet in 2023, demonstrating its potential.
The new model will feature a fuel cell drive, which produces electricity by combining hydrogen from a tank with oxygen from the air. The only byproduct is water vapor, making it an eco-friendly option.
The iX5 Hydrogen, set to launch in 2028, is a significant step towards BMW's sustainable future. Its innovative fuel cell drive, developed in collaboration with Toyota, promises a clean and efficient driving experience.
