BMW Marks Turnaround with Record Sales Across Brands
BMW has reported a significant turnaround in sales, marking its first increase after five consecutive declines. The German automaker saw strong growth across Europe, America, and for the Mini brand in the full year.
The core BMW brand contributed to this success with a 5.7% increase to 514,600 cars. The Mini brand also performed exceptionally well, with a 33% increase to 72,400 cars. Even Rolls-Royce saw a 13% increase to 1,304 cars. This growth comes after a low comparison base in the previous year, which was affected by brake issues and delivery stops.
BMW's sales director, Jochen Goller, emphasized the strong performance in Europe and America. In the USA, despite tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, BMW and Mini sales increased by 24% to 104,200 cars. In Europe, sales increased by 9% to 239,600 cars, with Germany contributing a 12% increase to nearly 73,000 cars. However, in China, sales decreased by 0.4% to 147,100 cars, though this was an improvement from the previous year's significant drop of almost 30%.
Looking at the quarterly figures, BMW reported higher sales of 621,700 cars in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the current reported sales. However, electric car sales decreased by 0.6% to 102,900, which could be due to customers waiting for the Neue Klasse vehicles. Despite this, BMW delivered 588,300 cars in the third quarter of 2025, an 8.8% increase from the previous year.
BMW's sales growth is a welcome turnaround after several years of decline. With strong performances across key markets and brands, the company looks set to continue this positive trajectory. However, the slight decrease in electric car sales serves as a reminder of the challenges and opportunities in the evolving automotive landscape.
