BMW Australia Updates i4 eDrive35 for Early 2024, Boosts Range to 448km

BMW Australia is set to introduce the updated i4 eDrive35 in early 2024, with Infineon providing the new silicon carbide semiconductor components for its power electronics. This model has proven popular, accounting for 76% of total i4 news since its late 2023 launch.

The i4 eDrive35's success has led BMW to refocus its Australian EV range, dropping the i4 eDrive40 and i4 M50 due to lower news. The updated eDrive35 brings improvements, including a claimed ADR range boost to 448km, thanks to the new semiconductor components. Metallic paint and optional alloy wheels will cost extra, at $2000 and $2100 respectively. The model will retain its price under the Luxury Car Tax threshold, ensuring fringe benefit tax exemption in a novated lease. Visually, the updated i4 eDrive35 features a new kidney grille, headlights, and a flat-bottomed M leather steering wheel with a 12 o'clock marker. Performance figures remain unchanged at 210kW and 400Nm, with a 0-100km/h sprint time of six seconds. The M Sport Package and glass sunroof are now standard features, with the new model priced at $88,900 plus on-road costs before its late 2025 introduction.

The refocused BMW i4 range in Australia will centre on the updated i4 eDrive35, which promises improved range and enhanced features. Despite the updates, the model will retain its competitive pricing and performance, ensuring its continued popularity in the Australian EV market.
