Binance Announces the 20th HODLer Airdrop Project: Sophon
In a significant move, Binance, the leading cryptocurrency exchange, has selected Sophon as the latest project for its HODLer Airdrop program. The project will distribute 150 million SOPH tokens, constituting 1.5% of the total SOPH supply, to eligible BNB holders.
The airdrop will apply to users who had subscribed BNB to Binance's Simple Earn (Flexible or Locked) and On-Chain Earn products between May 14 and May 17, 2025. To receive the airdrop, users were not required to take any additional action other than holding BNB in the eligible products during the snapshot period. The SOPH tokens will be credited to users' Spot Wallets at least one hour prior to trading, with ineligible jurisdictions including the United States and other regions specified on Binance's platform.
Sophon is a Layer-2 chain for entertainment applications developed using zkSync's ZK Stack. This ZK-rollup-based blockchain operates using a Validium architecture, making it suited for high-throughput, low-fee applications such as gaming, ticketing, and AI interactions. Trusted by Binance Labs and other major backers, Sophon has secured over $70 million in funding and sold more than 120,000 node licenses.
Sophon will be trading on Binance from May 28, 2025. Five trading pairs will be available, including SOPH/USDT, BNB, and TRY. Notably, SOPH will carry Binance's Seed Tag, a label for new and relatively unproven projects that mandates users complete quizzes to continue trading such assets.
Components of the SOPH token distribution include 20% for node rewards, 25% for the Sophon Foundation, 20% for investors, 5% for advisors, and 30% for the ecosystem reserve. In addition to the tokens set aside for the Binance HODLer airdrop, another 50 million SOPH will be used for post-listing promotions, with an additional 150 million reserved for future campaigns six months after listing.
The Sophon network is home to several entertaining and innovative applications, including Petopia, a roguelike shooter game offering in-game rewards, OPEN, an NFT ticketing platform, Sophon Intelligence Agency, an AI development initiative, and various gaming, social media, and digital experience applications.
