Berlin Police Arrest Iranian Man, Woman in High-Value Tech Thefts

Berlin police and prosecutors have cracked down on a series of high-value thefts targeting a tech corporation in Mitte. A 45-year-old Iranian man has been arrested and charged with aggravated theft, while a 41-year-old woman faces charges of receiving stolen goods. The total damage amounts to approximately 80,000 euros.

The man, who is also accused of shoplifting food and a power bank worth around 140 euros in Chemnitz, tested positive for drugs during his arrest. He was swiftly imprisoned following expedited proceedings. Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office Berlin executed search warrants at two locations in Prenzlauer Berg and Steglitz, seizing a portion of the stolen goods valued at around 20,000 euros.

The investigations by Police District 28 and the Public Prosecutor's Office Berlin are ongoing, as some of the stolen items were not yet officially on the market. The thefts occurred between June and October 2024, involving high-value consumer electronics.

The 45-year-old man and the 41-year-old woman will face charges for their roles in the thefts and receiving stolen goods, respectively. The recovered items represent a significant portion of the total damage, with the investigations continuing to uncover the remaining stolen goods.
