Audio Technology Expert from LEA Enhances Sound Quality at Stanford Baptist Church

In the heart of Standford, Kentucky, the Stanford Baptist Church, with its seating capacity exceeding 300 people and an open and airy vaulted sanctuary, faced a common challenge for houses of worship - compromised speech intelligibility during liturgical services. To address this issue, Alex Peake, an integration specialist at JCA Media, was contacted to design a new audio system.

Peake's solution was to recommend LEA Professional's Connect Series amplifiers, which are renowned for their industry-first professional amplifier family to feature cloud connectivity, making them particularly suitable for dynamic environments like houses of worship.

The Connect Series offers multiple connection methods, including built-in Wi-Fi, venue Wi-Fi, and FAST Ethernet via Cat5 or Cat6 cables, ensuring reliable and scalable audio distribution across the facility. The amplifiers also support both Dante and analog inputs, providing versatility in integrating with existing audio systems.

For the Stanford Baptist Church project, JCA Media deployed the LEA Connect Series 168 to power two balcony delays and six wedge loudspeakers. The main loudspeakers in the sanctuary, a flown left-right configuration, were powered by the LEA Connect Series 1504. These amplifiers, with their HiZ (70V or 100V) selectable by channel and Smart Power Bridge technology, allowed JCA to double the power on a single channel without sacrificing other amplifier channels.

The smart technology didn't stop there. SharkWare software, used by JCA, allowed for fine-tuning the system in the sanctuary. With SharkWare, users can monitor the status of every amplifier connected to the network and the status and performance of individual channels. It also includes amplifier grouping, offline design, granular user access control levels, locked speaker tunings, and a graphical EQ.

For long-term remote monitoring, JCA utilized LEA Cloud to remotely control and monitor the amplifiers. This feature, along with the ease of connection to the amplifiers, as mentioned by Peake, proved to be significant advantages in the project.

With the implementation of LEA Professional's Connect Series amplifiers, the Stanford Baptist Church now boasts a flexible, scalable, and manageable audio solution that can accommodate a variety of event types and speaker setups, ensuring clear and intelligible sound for all its congregation.
