Are the positions remarkably favorable in an odd manner?
The Saxon police's "Suspiciously Good Jobs" campaign is in its eleventh round, and it's proving to be a success. The campaign, which targets 16- to 34-year-olds, is still accepting applications until October 31, 2022.
This round, titled "Choose your Character," uses a video game aesthetic and focuses on four roles: patrol officer, detective, female officer, and traffic cop. The total cost of the advertising measures for the campaign is 142,569 euros and includes posters, ads, and online advertising.
Interior Minister Armin Schuster (CDU) believes the current advertising campaign speaks effectively to young people. He hopes for an increase in police personnel with the police recruitment quota increased from 450 to 475 in the approved double budget.
In addition to traditional advertising measures, the Saxon police offer individual support such as early job offers, a candidate app, and personal consultation via various means. Applications for police officer training increased by 11.83% compared to the previous year by mid-September 2022. Applications for other roles, such as criminal commissioner, also saw an increase of 7.47%.
No new information regarding the focus of the campaign on these four "characters" is provided. However, the campaign's appeal is evident in the rising numbers of applicants in Saxony.
It's worth noting that during the given period, Alexander Dierks, President of the Saxon Landtag, visited Dresden and conducted official sessions there. There is no indication that he traveled on a government jet during this time. Similarly, the Presidium of the Hamburg Parliament visited Dresden on September 2, 2025, but no transport details such as government jet usage are mentioned.
As the campaign continues, it's clear that the Saxon police are committed to attracting and supporting young applicants in their pursuit of a career in law enforcement.
