Apple Unveils Live Translation in AI System, Now Compatible with AirPods 3 and More
Apple has rolled out a significant update to its AI system, Apple Intelligence, with the introduction of live translation. This feature is now available on iOS 26 and the latest AirPods 3, with compatibility extending to specific AirPods models and a range of Apple devices.
The new live translation feature works seamlessly with AirPods 4 and both Lightning and USB-C versions of AirPods Pro 2. As for device compatibility, Apple Intelligence for live translation requires an iPhone with the A17 Pro chip or later, including the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models. Compatible iPads include those with an M1 chip or newer, such as the iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad Mini 7th generation with A17 Pro chip. Macs with Apple Silicon M1 or later chips also support this feature.
To use live translation, a compatible iPhone running Apple Intelligence is necessary. This includes eleven models released since autumn 2023. However, Apple Intelligence-capable iPads with an M chip are not currently supported for live translation. For AirPods users, live translation works with AirPods Pro 3 and older models after a firmware update.
Apple's live translation feature, powered by Apple Intelligence, is now available on a range of devices. With iOS 26 and the new AirPods 3, users can enjoy real-time language translation, making communication more accessible and convenient. The feature's compatibility with specific iPhones, iPads, and AirPods models ensures a seamless user experience.
