Anthropic's AI Model Claude Heads to Microsoft Copilot as User Base Explodes

Anthropic, a leading AI company, is expanding its reach and influence. It's integrating its AI model, Claude, into Microsoft Copilot, aiming to embed its AI in everyday business tools. This move comes as Anthropic's customer base has skyrocketed from under 1,000 in 2023 to over 300,000 today, with a majority of its users outside the U.S.

Anthropic's growth is fuelled by strategic hires and global expansion. Chris Ciauri, previously at Google Cloud and Salesforce, has joined as Managing Director of International, following Paul Smith's appointment as chief commercial officer. The company has opened new offices in Dublin, London, Zurich, and Tokyo, and plans to hire over 100 new employees across Europe and Asia.

Anthropic's latest release, Claude Sonnet 4.5, is praised as the strongest coding model for building complex AI agents. This, coupled with a revenue run rate jump from $87 million to over $5 billion in just over a year, indicates the company's robust growth. Amazon has shown confidence in Anthropic, investing $4 billion in the company, backing its bet on Claude in the AI race. Anthropic plans to triple its international headcount and expand its applied AI team by five times before the end of the year.

Anthropic's integration with Microsoft Copilot and global expansion, coupled with strong financial growth and strategic hires, positions the company as a significant player in the AI landscape. With Amazon's backing, Anthropic is set to continue its rapid growth and international influence.
