Ancient graphics cards are reportedly in high demand as indicated by supposed Amazon sales data, with many PC buyers making purchases.

In the world of gaming and computing, the latest sales figures for graphics processing units (GPUs) have been unveiled, providing an insightful look into the market's current dynamics. TechEpiphany, a reputable source in the field, has published a comprehensive list of last month's GPU sales at Amazon US.

The list shows that Nvidia's GeForce GPUs have dominated the market, with significant quantities of older models such as the GeForce GT210, GT610, and GT710 being sold in large numbers. However, the spotlight is on the newer models, particularly the GeForce RTX 5060 and RTX 5070.

The GeForce RTX 5070 topped the chart with over 6,000 sales, while its mid-range counterpart, the RTX 5070 Ti, managed half that number. Interestingly, the RTX 5060, despite selling 2,650 units, has an average selling price of $185, which is significantly lower than its usual MSRP of around $299. This price drop is likely due to promotional pricing and marketplace discounts around large sales events like Amazon Prime Day, coupled with aggressive pricing on RTX 5060-equipped laptops.

In the budget category, the Intel Arc B570 takes the crown. Meanwhile, the high-end segment is dominated by the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090, which accounted for $3.8 million worth of sales. The best value for money, according to the list, is offered by AMD's Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB, with the RX 9070 following closely behind.

Notably, the AMD Radeon RX 9070 is considered the best overall GPU, according to the list, while the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 takes the top spot in the high-end category.

Nick Evanson, an experienced writer in the field of gaming and computers, has been following these trends closely. Evanson, who started his writing career in 1981 with a Sinclair ZX81, has worked for various tech sites including Madonion, Beyond3D.com, TechSpot.com, and YouGamers, where he served as an editor-in-chief for the gaming and hardware section.

In the red corner, Team Red GPUs account for around 23% of all the units sold, indicating a strong presence in the market. The sales figures for AMD's RX 9060 XT and RX 9070 XT were 2,850 and 2,250, respectively.

The Intel Arc series also made an appearance, with the A380, a 6 GB graphics card with just 8 Xe cores, being the best-selling Intel Arc graphics card. The Arc B580, Intel's best graphics card, only managed to accrue 100 sales.

These sales figures provide a fascinating snapshot of the current GPU market, revealing trends, consumer preferences, and the impact of promotional pricing on sales. As we move forward, it will be interesting to see how these trends evolve and how the market adapts to the ever-changing landscape of gaming and computing.
