Alpine's A390 to embark on its flight

The Alpine A390, a high-performance electric SUV, is set to make its world premiere on May 27, marking the brand's 70th anniversary. This model, once a Nissan SUV platform, has been transformed by Alpine into a sleek electric sports car.

Under the hood, the Alpine A390 packs a punch. The GTS version offers an impressive 345 kW or 470 PS of power, with a top speed of 220 km/h. The base GT version, on the other hand, delivers 294 kW or 400 PS, reaching a top speed of 200 km/h. The vehicle's power is harnessed through an 89 kWh battery pack, which powers a motor at the front and two at the rear.

The battery pack is supplied by French startup Verkor, in which Renault has a stake. The standard 11 kW on-board charger can be optionally upgraded to a 22 kW function, allowing for faster charging. However, the Alpine A390 doesn't lead the pack in charging speed, with a maximum charging speed of up to 190 kW.

The Alpine A390 is designed for performance. It boasts a maximum torque of 808 Nm, a braking system with 365 mm discs and six-piston calipers, and a suspension with hydraulic bump stops and a direct steering ratio. For those seeking an extra boost, the vehicle features a boost function for ultra-fast overtaking maneuvers.

In terms of range, the Alpine A390 can reach up to 520 to 550 kilometers, depending on the wheel size. The vehicle seats five and offers luxurious surfaces, two 12-inch displays, electric leather seats with a massage function, and a Devialet sound system with 13 speakers.

Rumors suggest a base price of around 68,000 pounds for the Alpine A390 in the UK, which is approximately 80,000 euros. The vehicle will compete against the fully electric Porsche Macan, Audi Q6 e-tron, and Hyundai Ioniq 5N.

To enhance the driving experience, the Alpine A390 offers an artificial engine sound that can be emitted into its stylish interior upon request. This feature, along with its performance capabilities, makes the Alpine A390 a compelling choice for those seeking a sporty electric SUV.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Alpine A390 as we approach its world premiere on May 27.
